Personal information

Iris Sophie Simon is a research assistant on the Schelling's Unfinished System project. She supports the project's research work on the revisions and points of rupture in Friedrich Wilhelm Joseph Schelling's final system. She graduated with a BA in Philosophy and Music from the University of Basel and an MA in Ancient Philosophy from LMU. Her MA thesis concerned Plato's eschatological myths in the Gorgias, Phaedo, and the Republic. She has already served as a tutor in the subject of ancient philosophy, as well as in theoretical philosophy, and furthermore specializes in classical German philosophy.

Research interests

Iris Sophie Simon is interested in the points of rupture and internal fresh starts in systematic thought, as well as for alternatives to rational-argumentative logos, such as mythology, and their relationship to philosophy. These topics are also the focus of the research project on Schelling's late work, which she supports through her work as a research assistant.

During her studies in philosophy, she specialized in hermeneutical examination of ancient philosophy, rationalist systems, as well as of Kant and classical German philosophy. Based on this specialization, she is also interested in the reception of ancient philosophers in classical German philosophy, as well as (motivated by her Bachelor studies in Music) questions in the philosophy and theory of music.
